Smart Packaging Solutions offers customers full service with new tray erection machines for the supply of ready-to-use attachment trays

A first for Smart Packaging Solutions: we have taken our first tray erection machines into service. So we can now supply our customers with ready-to-use attachment trays. Taking the first tray erection machine into service in our plant in Meer is the first step on our way to a network of tray erection locations in Europe.

“We are increasingly asked by customers if they could receive the attachment trays ready to use”, explains Johan De Neef, Managing Director of Smart Packaging Solutions. “This was reason enough for us to expand our range of services and to invest in tray erection machines. With the tray erection machines we fold, glue and stack cardboard blanks to create the required packaging. The customer then receives completed packaging that is immediately ready for use. This allows us to meet our aim to be a full-service provider for our customers even better.”

“With the tray erection machines, we are going to erect fruit and vegetable packaging. In the fruit and vegetable sector, rapid response is the norm. A grower wants an immediate answer to his request and expects a delivery within 24 hours. Our tray erection machines are available 7 days a week and that makes it possible for us to be even more flexible and able to respond even more quickly to our customer needs.”

The first tray erection machines have been installed in our plant in Meer. “We now dispose of two tray erection machines here and two more are yet to be installed. This is the first step on our way to a network of tray erection locations in Europe, from Scandinavia to Southern Europe. We want to ensure that the erection of packaging takes place as close as possible to our customers. This will allow us to respond rapidly and execute the transport as efficiently as possible. Incidentally, we will continue to cooperate with our regular tray erection providers.”

At Smart Packaging Solutions, we continue to innovate and invest to make high-quality packaging. “The market is changing”, relates Johan De Neef. “The demand for sustainable packaging is growing and it is also expected that we will be able to supply more rapidly and flexibly. We have anticipated this through offering comprehensive service. In our plants we make new packaging from recycled paper and cardboard and, in addition to printing, we can now also erect packaging in our own factories.”
